UVC & Steril-Aire
Steril-Aire's systems-engineered germicidal UVC Emitters installed in HVAC systems provide a proven and cost-effective tool to reduce energy consumption and operating costs while improving indoor air quality.
Installed at the cooling coil and drain pan in an HVAC system, UVC eliminates surface bio film — a complex matrix of mold, bacteria, viruses and debris.

Benefits of UVC
Issues such as sick building syndrome are often attributed to poor ventilation, air conditioning and the lack of sufficient clean air.
With Steril-Aire’s UVC installed into the Air Conditioning system “clean” air is hugely increased by breaking down the bio-film which is a culture of mould, bacteria and viruses which commonly grow on the coil. This allows clean sterilized air to pass through the building providing improved health of the building users.
Energy Savings
Lowers energy costs by improving HVAC system heat transfer and increasing net cooling capacity.
Maintenance Savings
Continuously cleans coils, drain pans plenums and ducts, reducing or eliminating manual cleaning and the use of harmful chemicals.
Water Conservation
Reclaiming clean condensate for tower makeup, irrigation or gray water flushing reduces water and waste water costs.
Extended food shelf life
Reduces food spoilage
Rapid Return on Investment
Offers a return on investment in less than 2 years.
Commercial Buildings
Energy efficiency
The use of Steril-Aire high output UVC emitters tm will help your business save money on your HVAC operating costs. This is achieved by removal of the Bio film that builds up on the coils
The traditional way of removing this "film" is by the use of harsh chemicals and water, which tends to push the dirt/mould further into the coil, restricting the airflow and hindering the heat transfer process. Breaking down this Bio film by bathing the cooling coil and plenum in high output UVC light restores the airflow and heat transfer back to "as new" and design spec performance.
This results in lower energy requirements and reduced CO2 emissions. Case studies outlining energy savings are available on request and typically, the payback for installations is within two years on investment.
Lower maintenance costs
By bathing the interior of a HVAC system with Steril-Aire's high output UVC emitterstm additional savings are achievable by reduced maintenance costs
This is achieved by keeping the HVAC system operating cleanly and efficiently, resulting in less breakdowns. With changes to the new G4 building code, every HVAC coil requires inspection and cleaning (if required) monthly. With the installation of UVC emitterstm this practice is no longer required due to the coil/plenum and associated ducting being 99.9% free from all mould, bacteria and viruses
This ensures your HVAC plant is being maintained chemical free, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. So no more calls to your HVAC technician to "stop that smell in the air-conditioning" or to unblock clogged drain pans ect.
Indoor Air Quality
Installation of Steril-Aire UVC emitters™ results in the additional benefit of improved Indoor Air Quality to your commercial property. Centralized HVAC systems are a perfect breeding ground for many forms of mould, bacteria and viruses. By installing Steril-Aire UVC emitters™ you can reduce symptoms such as dry noses, headaches or regular colds experienced by building users. Poor indoor air quality is often termed Sick Building Syndrome.
Health
Lower Healthcare Associated Infections
Installation of Steril-Aire UVC emitters™ results in the benefit of improved Indoor Air Quality which is of particular value in medical facilities. The use of high output UVC provides microbial control by targeting the DNA and RNA structures of microbes and viruses in the air stream producing a 99.9% eradication rate.
It is also worth noting that although HEPA filters have the capability to trap bacteria, they are not always effective against smaller microbes such as chickenpox, smallpox and other highly contagious viruses where as UVC can inactivate these small microbes. This results in improved indoor air quality for staff and patients.
